12 dec – Night mares for Lucia

Tonight it’s Lucia night here in Sweden. It’s a night when the town is filled with young Lucias and Star boys who gets drunk the first time. We believe they need night mares so they in the future will be careful about partying too much. They also need to fill their stomach with something more sensible than liquor. Nightmares are like dreams (a traditional Swedish cookie) but bigger and with chocolate. We’ve also done stickers which you can download and print and put on your night mares. Then go outside and start feeding the Lucias.

Night mares

100 g butter

3 dl sugar

2 tsk vanilla sugar

1 dl oil

1 tsk bakers ammonia, harts horn

ca 5 dl flour

Garnish: melted chocolate

Blend butter, sugar and vanilla sugar. Pour in the oil a little at a time. In another bowl blend your bakers ammonia with the flour then blend it all together to make a nice dough.

Slice the dough into 20 same sized pieces. Roll each into a ball and make it flat and put onto the baking sheet.

Bake at 150 C for 20 min.

While your cookies are in the oven you can melt the chocolate in the micro wave.

When your cookies are done let them rest for a little while then with the help of a spoon shake som melted chocolate over each cookie.

Put the cookies in the fridge until the chocolate hardens.

Meanwhile download and print the stickers. Wrap the cookies three and three in plastic or paper. Then glue the sticker on top. Then get out into the night and find some Lucias and Star boys to feed.
