Invasion 2/6-29/8 2009
What do you do if you get an offer to do what ever you want and take over a whole Art museum? We knew the answer, you invade! We invaded the town of Nässjös city art museum with our conceptual exhibition Invasion. The exhibition consist of three different environments who are disturbed by their opposites that relentlessly are trying to take over. With robot furniture, fulmonsters, crafts and video art as a few of the ingredients.
Making exhibionts are extremely fun and this time we tried not to be shy but rather start from our toes and bulid up all thru ouc bodies and really make an ugly exhibiont worth it’s name. We started tossing around ideas around our robot book case Naughty Robot, wich were born at our exhibiont in Skövde. Pretty soon we decided on a concept of opposites and questions on norms, what it means being normal and things we do and live in. We wanted the visitors to ponder and reflect and hopefully get to something positive about the selves and the world around them. Because we knew we didn’t have the answers to what is right and wrong. Maybe it is just being diffrent.

The first room is a traditional cozy living room invaded by robots that steal your time and your attention. Several of the furnitures have taken the form of a robot, like the coffee table “Feedo” where we eat our meals in front of the tv maybe at the cost of interaction. The colourful frames on the wall witch at a first glance seems to be family portraits are really images of people, environments taken over by robots, and illustrates how machines takes over our lives. The photos are called “Are you a robot?”

IF you look a little more closely you can se that everywhere Robots are climbing, walkning, digging. They are almost ant like taking over the whole room. In the TV robot four people are staring back out of the tv, judging the viewer without uttering a word. And its hypnotic making it hard to avert your eyes.

An invasion without weapons is like love without kisses so we naturally brought some weapons pillow style ones. Guns, chainsaws, knifes, cobble stones ans so on. They are made for a fight where no one gets hurt.

Room three is white and sterile with no curtains or personal belongings or plants. It’s a spitting image of a staged flat in a relaters ad. The office is being invaded by crafts and textiles in every color of the rainbow. The printer is printing a gigantic knitting, the painting on the wall with its 200 styled mantra is being invaded by embroidery.

The second room have been invaded by Fulmonster and their hem Two River Forest. More than 40 monsters can be found in the urban forest wich you must walk through to get to room three.

Fulmonsters are always made out of recycled material. They all have their own name and unique history.
