Workshops and Lectures
Fulmonster workshops
The fulmonsters were born when we wanted to do something for the kids. A craft and a toy that works for children. But they became more like us, neurotic, anxious, fearful and malevolent. Fulmonster workshops are easy because everyone immediately understands the concept from the age of 3 to 93 and are soon in full swing with their monsters. We have seen everything from angry swamp monsters to neurotic urban monster and it has proven to be easy for everyone to let his inner monster out. On Children’s Culture House 2008 there was some times a 20-meter long line to sew monsters. We have had monster workshops from Malmo to Stockholm in small and large cities and in small and large contexts. Here are some examples: The children’s culture 08, EuroPride 08, Röhsska Museum 08, Street 06, 08 Travel Fair, Stockholm Pride 07, UKM 08 and many many more places.
Pillow Fight
Pillow fight workshops are special becaise they begin with craft and ends with a fight. Usually we make guns but it has also been dangerous cheeses, bombs and knives in pillow shape. In the summer of 09 we armed a few hundred young people with pillow weapons in Stockholm. In the spring of 09 we were in Lund and armed the culture elite with paving stones of the hug-friendly format and in the summer of 09 we armed even more young people in Skövde
Pecha kucha
We really like the Pecha Kucha format, it is of course from Japan and it’s a fast presentation technique. There are several speakers during the same evening in which each speaker may present 20 images displayed in 20 seconds, which is 6 minutes and 40 seconds to be filled with anything. We have puzzled the cultural elite of Gothenburg by mixing speach with rap to the images, and we almost set Svens Form in Stockholm on fire by both talking and singing pop songs at a furious pace. Pecha Kucha is ugly and fantastic.
Graffiti
There is everything from directors, marketing pros, public relations people to the festival goers who have tried to join a graffiti crew for a few hours. It’s teamwork at a high level where it comes to being creative and as a group decide what to do and then push each other to produce a work of art with the help of spray paint. It’s fun to learn the basics of graffiti both to young and old people, and the result is almost always fantastic. We often wonder what happens to the paintings afterwards. Are the slogans hung up at the office in the coffee room? We have held workshops for EuroPride, Design Week, Stockholm, Uppsala, UKM, TCO Rica hotels and others.
Lectures
We give lectures at a lot of different places, from schools to businesses and interest groups. We talk about how to finsih what you started, how to live in a world that requires you to be perfect when you just feel ugly. We’re talking about design revolution and asks if anyone are allowed to a designer. The funniest thing is when discussions start. When people have opinions and ideas, when the audience become inspired and want to be very creative. We have among other things been included at the seminar “from idea to product” at DesignTorget, lectured on the Stockholm Design Week 2008, talked about how ugly design can set you free for the Trend Group and lectured at design schools.
